Iowa Department of Safety and the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau
The Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau is part of the Iowa Department of Public Safety. The agency is responsible for administering federal highway safety funds aimed at reducing traffic related death and injury on our state streets and highways. Agency programs focus on the primary causes of highway tragedies including the non use of safety belts, impaired driving, speeding, and failure to obey stop lights and stop signs. These factors also contribute to work zone crashes for drivers of all ages .Young drivers are particularly at risk because of issues such as inexperience, traffic violations, distractions and impairment . By working together and partnering with other highway safety related organizations, the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau believes we can make Iowa a better, safer place to live, work and play.
